TEAMS ARE FUN!
Preparations for the biggest and best Oldbury Fun Run yet are now well under way and organisers are predicting that the new Team entry initiative is really set to make a difference. As reported in February this year, teams can consist of a minimum of 6 people (mixed sexes allowed). Each team when registering must commit to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship money for CLIC Sargent. Teams that collect over £500 sponsorship will also be entered into a draw to receive a substantial prize which will be presented at the AGM in October. And don’t forget – this year it’s even easier to raise money – just go to our website, www.oldburyfunrun.co.uk, and follow the link to the Virgin Money Giving website – this will take you direct to the Oldbury Fun Run page.
Keith Sullivan said ‘Team entries are now starting to come in and interest is building with lots of enquiries being received. Thornbury Falcons FC are entering several teams to raise money for both a new local football ground and for CLIC Sargent. They are expecting up to 200 of their members and families to run on the day.’
The Air Cadets will be running as a team as well as Horizon and Thornbury Fire Brigade and Magnox.
Another new event for this year – The Classic Vehicle Display – is also generating lots of interest. Keith Sullivan said ‘Lots of interest is now being shown by local classic vehicle owners – we are expecting a host of vehicles from small classic commercial vehicles to a promised Penny Farthing bicycle.
